About

Born 1985 in Umeå Sweden, Lives and works in Stockholm since 2015.

Mark Frygell is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice is anchored in painting and expanded through drawing, digital image-making, 3D animation, and sound. His work investigates how images operate beyond representation, focusing on slippage, ambiguity, and surplus meaning that escapes clear narrative or symbolic resolution. Working through intuitive and process-based methods, Frygell constructs figurative and grotesque visual worlds that reflect on mediation, repetition, and the circulation of images within contemporary culture. Drawing from subcultural aesthetics, popular imagery, mythology, and art historical references, his practice examines how images shape collective experience while simultaneously fracturing meaning, creating spaces where interpretation remains open, unstable, and resistant to consumption.
